Calamity Days (Snow Days) 2024-25

Calamity Days (Snow Days)

Our decision to close school due to weather is based solely on the safety of our students and staff.   We utilize data from multiple sources such as weather reports, local and state road conditions as well as contact with area school superintendents when closing school.  

We will use a variety of communication avenues when delaying or closing.  We will post closings and delays on our school district app as well as our website www.ridgewood.k12.oh.us .   We will also utilize our call system.   School closings and/ or delays will be notified if possible the prior evening or by 5:30 a.m.   It is important to update any changes to your phone with our Central Office at 545-6354.  In addition, closing and delays will be reported to the following radio stations WTNS, WTUZ, WJER and television stations WHIZ, NBC4, 10WBNS and ABC6/Fox.

Students will have calamity day for Snow Days 1-8. We will utilize Online Learning Plans (Blizzard bags with Zoom meetings) on snow day 9, 10 and 11.  Online Learning Plans information/assignments will be sent home with your child or may be found on the district website.  Teachers will be available via email and Zoom meeting on Online Learning Plan days during normal school hours. More information will be available on our website.

Students will have calamity day for Snow Days 12-14.  We will begin to make up calamity days on Snow Day 15, 16, and 17.  Snow Day 15 will be student in person day on May 23.   Snow Day 16 will be in student in person day on May 27. Snow Day 17 will be a student in person day on May 28. 

 
WLE Homecoming Queen Partners with Ridgewood Elementary for Community Service Project
Maddie Larrison, the 2023 West Lafayette Homecoming Queen and a 10th grade student at Ridgewood High School, partnered with Ridgewood Elementary school to complete her November community service project! Maddie asked the PK-3 students at Ridgewood Elementary to color pictures, make cards, or write letters to honor Veterans.  Maddie will take these letters to the Veterans breakfast in Coshocton on Saturday!
 
Thank you to Mr. Carpenter, all of the PK-3 teachers, and all of the amazing students at Ridgewood Elementary for helping Maddie complete her project!
 
Meet Ridgewood FFA Student Riley Berger, American Star in Agricultural Placement Finalist

Meet Riley Berger, representing Ridgewood FFA as one of Ohio’s Star Finalists. Star Finalists are the best of the best among thousands of American FFA Degree recipients around the country. These students have met rigorous requirements, including completing several SEAs (supervised agricultural experiences), demonstrating excellent management skills, fulfilling education and leadership criteria, and earning the American FFA degree.

 
RIDGEWOOD MVHC MOVING TO A MOBILE UNIT

Our School Health Program will no longer be operating out of the module behind the elementary school. The program will now operate out of a MVHS Mobile Health Unit on a rotating schedule basis. Our School Health program continues to be centered on providing comprehensive primary care services including pediatric, adolescent, and behavioral health care to students and the community.  The Mobile Unit will park on campus in the morning to service students and staff then move to the WLE Chamber Building in the afternoon to service the community. MEET LUNA!

Meet Luna! Luna is a registered Emotional Support Dog through USA Service Dogs. Luna is up-to-date with current vaccinations and immunizations from her local veterinarian. Luna will be working with our students primarily at the elementary and middle school here at Ridgewood. Our vision for Luna is to offer social-emotional, cognitive, and health benefits for our students and staff. Luna will be available to provide support and comfort. 

Luna will be out on medical leave until the end of October as she recovers from ACL surgery and undergoes physical therapy. During this time, she will be resting and receiving the care she needs to ensure a full recovery. 

We understand how much Luna’s presence means to our school community, and we appreciate your understanding and support as she goes through this recovery period. In her absence, we will be ensuring that all students continue to have access to the emotional support and resources they need.

Change for Reduced Price Meals in the National School Lunch Program
Ohio Budget Authorizes Reduced Price Meal Reimbursement: The State of Ohio FY24-FY25 biennial budget includes funding to cover the cost of providing no-cost breakfast and no-cost lunch to students qualifying for reduced-price meals. Starting in school year 2023-2024, participants in the National School Breakfast or Lunch Program will provide a breakfast and lunch at no cost to each student eligible for a reduced-price breakfast or lunch. You must fill out a Free & Reduced Meal Application for 2023-24 to qualify. The application is available Online Here or a paper application is available in each school office.  Online Instructions Here. Breakfast for all students will remain free for the 2023-24 school year. 2023-24 Lunch Prices: K - 3 $2.75, Grades 4-12 $3.00, Adult $4.15 (without milk), Reduced Lunch No Charge, Milk $.50, K-12 Breakfast No Charge, Adult Breakfast $2.70 (without milk) , Reduced Breakfast No Charge. If you need assistance please call Michelle Stoffer at 740-545-5301 or email Michelle at [email protected].
 
Ohio Lottery Academic All Stars
Bill Gottardi, one of our elementary students, has received The Partners in Education All Star Award which recognizes k-12 students who have exhibited academic achievement, community involvement, citizenship and leadership in and out of the classroom. For being recognized as an Academic All Star, Bill will receive an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise including a backpack, water bottle, headphones and a gift card.  Congratulations Bill!

 
CONGRATULATIONS RIDGEWOOD FFA ON A GREAT YEAR!

Ridgewood FFA enjoyed another successful year. The leadership of our 2 FFA Teachers, Sue Davis and Logan Pyers, is where the magic begins. Clocking many hours of schoolwork, hands-on training and countless competitions, they have created a robust and fruitful FFA program. Some of the awards received this year include - 7 students who earned the American FFA Degree: Jadyn Art, Mason Mizer, Jianna Jonard, Malachi Cahill, Ariana Vanfossen, Bailey Maple and Elizabeth Sampsel. Less than 1% of members on the National Level receive this degree. 5 students earned the State FFA Degree: Hayden Kilchenman, Brooklyn Maleski, Hunter Maple, Logan Slaughter and Johnathan Woodward. 5 of our FFA officers are Gold Rated Officers at State Level: Elana Alloway and Jessica Thompson – Reporter, Kiley Hahn and Izabel Mourer – Treasurer and Kyra Weaver – Secretary. MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAMA CLUB PERFORMING LION KING JR.
The RMS Drama Club and Beyond the Bell will be performing Lion King, Jr. in the high school auditorium this weekend beginning on Friday April 28 and running through Sunday April 30.  Evening performances will take place on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 P.M.  The final performance will be on Sunday at 2:00 P.M.  Each show is a DONATION ONLY at the door... no tickets needed! All are welcome to come watch our middle school students perform! Hope to see you there!
